Time to Thank You

Sometimes it's a challenge to use part of a pattern in some patterned papers for cards. This paper seemed to design the card itself.  I like the script and clock patterns next to the squared circle. The circle was the perfect size for a Thank You stamp.

I was able to use a smaller clock part of the paper for a button and some of the black and white chevron  ribbon for an embellishment.

Holiday Tangled Pig

The Hambo Hoedown Challenge for this past week was to make an Easel Card. I've never made one so I thought I'd try.  I used the Pig Tangle ~digital image by Hambo Stamps.

I finally got to use some May Arts red & white twill striped ribbon. I really like the pattern but sometimes it is hard to incorporate into a design. I think the jolly pig turned out cute.

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!

I made this card for the OWH Sketch Challenge #148

I had fun using distress ink on a tag cut and other paper elements. This stamp can be used with a ticket cut from the Artiste cartridge but I like it here on the tag.

I really like using text patterned paper as a background.  It adds some interest without taking away the focus from the rest of the elements.

I've been wanting to add more Cricut cuts to my cards lately so when I saw the OWH ODBD December Challenge that asked for flowers, I thought these would be perfect.  {Thank you Betsy for letting me borrow this cute cartridge}

I've also been wanting to see how I can use Copic markers with my cuts.  I tried to add some dimension to the flowers by putting a little color on the bottom.  What do you think?

I am so thankful for so many things, probably many of the same things you are thankful for as well.  Hambo Hoedown's Challenge for this week was to use Burlap.  I used Cornucopia - digital image by Hambo Stamps to decorate this burlap bag filled with Mulling Spices.

I had fun using a lot of different colors for this image.

Boots

I saw a card Sandy Allnock had made and really liked the sentiment. Here is my version. I was able to cut some images from the Cricut Stand and Salute Cartridge for a promotion Cricut.com had for Veterans Day.

{I had an opportunity to speak to some veterans at a local American Legion meeting last week about Operation Write Home.  I made about 40 AnyHero cards for them to write in and get back to me.  I had cut some star and star borders and thought they would be more military looking if I distressed them. Finally had a reason to get some Distressed ink!}

I crumpled up the boots, applied the ink and colored the soles with Copic markers. I mounted the second boot with foam mounting tape.  I really like how the ink works and am looking forward to learning more about Distressed Ink techniques.

Here is a card I did for the OWH Sketch Challenge #146 ~okay it is a very loose interpretation but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I really like the look and feel of the boots after distressing.

With Love

The Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge for November is to make a card using a rarely used tool or technique.  I don't use my Cricut machine very often when making cards so I thought this would be a perfect time. Plus I just had to use an image from the very pretty Folk Art Festival cartridge.

A new technique I tried was coloring a pearl sticker with my Copic marker to make it a different color.

Hope you will link a card for this challenge as well since ODBD donates postage if there are 25 and 50 linked cards.

Holiday Card Workshop

I took a Holiday Card Workshop with Online Card Classes.  One of the classes was on coloring an owl, here is my version.

Do you like her pink eyeshadow?

Another class talked about dry embossing. Here is my version.

I tried to find a pattern that matched the pattern in the heart image.

Another class talked about using several sentiments in a group and here is my version.

One thing that is important is to use stamps that are the same thickness; otherwise some of the stamps don't touch the paper.

I learned a lot of great techniques and am glad I can back over the classes and videos in my own time.

You're Stuck with Me!

The Hambo Hoedown Challenge for this week is to use Neon Colors. I used Cactus - Digital Image by Hambo Stamps.

I finally got to use some webby ribbon I acquired a while ago.  It is spikey like the cactus and even though it is wide, the background shows through; showing off the detail. Love the beady eyes!

I got to use some bright Copic markers YG06  RV55  BG01  Y13  YG00  W2  B000

Hopefully it will be a fun Valentiney kind of card and is Bright enough!

Hexagons

It's Hambo Hoedown Challenge time again.  Here's my entry with Lighthouse - digital image by Hambo Stamps.

I embossed tiny hexagons on the lighthouse after coloring it with my Copic markers.  I also embossed hexagons on the paper I used for the land.  The waves were made with an EK Success Dotted Wave edge punch.

Snowy

If you know me at all, you know I just couldn't resist this beady-eyed snowman paper from MME called Merry.

I used it for a couple sketches featured on Artful Delight's Blog called Delightful Inspiration.  This is actually the layout sketch, but you know I make cards so here you go.

This one is for the card sketch which I turned on the side. The 6 x 6 pad is good to use for cards because the scale of the pattern is smaller.

I really like this recently acquired red, pink and white twine and thought it would make a cute tiny tassel and that it would go nicely with the little flag strips.

Two more to stamp, tuck and send off to Operation Write Home.  Do you recognize the words that are on the background paper?
