Needle Felting

I've noticed a few different places talking about needle felting lately such as Gingerbread Snowflakes.  So I got a little kit to try it for myself.

Here's what is in the kit:
*White felt with design
*Seafoam & Dark Aqua roving
*Two felting needles
*Foam block
*Purple wool yarn
*White cotton thread
*Embroidery needle
*Instruction sheet

I watched a video from Living Felt to see how it was done.  It is pretty easy and quick.

Here's how the piece looked after both colors are in

Here is what the back looks like with some of the fibers coming through.

And here is the finished product with the embroidery detail. (I also learned how to make a stem stitch and Finally made a French Knot).  I don't know what I'll do with this piece yet but it was fun learning how to make it; adding another skill to my repertoire.

Twine Storage

I  like to work with different colors and textures when making cards.  I have enjoyed the samples The Twinery sells so I can use whatever color is appropriate.

I try to keep my ribbons and other items organized but the twine was getting a little unruly.

So I decided to put the wrapper with the color name on a paper towel tube
and then wrap the twine around the tube.

I like being able to see all the colors at a glance.
We'll see how this works.
(I can add a couple more colors if I need to.)

New Year ~ New Things

What does a new year mean? A chance to start fresh, to draw a line and leave the old or bad behind and try to be better, try new things...

Here are a few cards I made trying new techniques and a new Cricut cartridge "Word Collage".  I have recently learned how to use Copic Markers and look forward to other new products, new techniques, new friends...

What about you?
