AnyHero Cards

Do you ever have trouble making AnyHero Cards?
{If you don't know what an AnyHero Card is, Click Here }
Sometimes I make a card with every intention of it being an AnyHero Card but then I think OWH always needs Thank You cards so I put it in the regular pile.

Then I tried to make a regular Thank You card for the OWH Blog Hop but made the squares too big so it ended being an AnyHero card. Then it hit me!  Just make the base a non-A2 card!  Then it can't be a regular card!  For me a top fold horizontal card shows off the card to the Hero the best so that is what I try to always make.  A card with a fold on the side or on the top of a vertical card is harder to see or is hidden in the envelope and is better for an AnyHero card.

You can cut one piece of 8.5 x 11 cardstock into three pieces: 8.5 x 3.66ish

Add your thicker embellishments...

Add those wooden embellishments...

Add some scraps...

Add a sentiment...

Round a corner or two...

Maybe a die cut or decorative stamp...

You can try new designs or techniques.  It's fun to make something different and still needed!
Now just write a quick note and let a Hero know how much you appreciate their service.  Check Here for some examples or Here for a video.

Thank You Hopping

Happy Memorial Day!
Thank You if someone in your family served in the Armed Forces!!!
Operation Write Home is having a Blog Hop this weekend.  The theme is Thank You and we were asked to make a card with one of the many OWH Sketches.

I really like this older sketch and tried making one very similar but ended up with squares that were too big so I thought it would make a great AnyHero card!

It is fun to make a larger card sometimes and AnyHero cards are the place to do it.

I tried again and used the measurements that OWH gives {I love that they do that!} as a guide.

This card has 1.75" inner squares and 2" outer squares.

I have been wanting to use one of the SRM stickers and thought this would be perfect card.

Be sure to check out as many blogs as you can; you may win a prize!
{Speaking of prizes, check out my post from yesterday}

Sew much

Found this cute Sewing Jar digital image at Birdie Brown's February Challenge. Torico makes the cutest images.

I thought it would be the perfect focus for the sketch in Delightful Inspiration's monthly challenge

Even though there are other strong elements such as the colorful buttons, I think the Sewing Jar is the Focal Point as discussed in this month's OWH Design BootCamp.

I'm Stuck on You

I really like the 'everyday item' digital images Tim Hunter comes up with.  This week Refrigerator -digital image by Hambo Stamps was released.  The Hambo Hoedown Challenge for this week is to use Leftovers.

I used some paper and seam binding leftover from earlier cards.  Really thought this was a cute idea to use with the fridge!  Love the puns that go along with this image: "You're a keeper!"  "I'm Stuck on You!" and "You're so Cool!"

Time to Thank You

Sometimes it's a challenge to use part of a pattern in some patterned papers for cards. This paper seemed to design the card itself.  I like the script and clock patterns next to the squared circle. The circle was the perfect size for a Thank You stamp.

I was able to use a smaller clock part of the paper for a button and some of the black and white chevron  ribbon for an embellishment.

Supplies Used:
Red Cardstock ~Bazzill Basics
Black Cardstock ~Bazzill Basics
All About Me 6x6 Paper ~Webster's Pages
Black & White Striped Twill Ribbon ~May Arts
Clear Button ~Close To My Heart
Thank You Stamp ~Will 'n Way

May Arts & Prima Ribbonista Sandy Allnock have a challenge this week to make a Thank You card for a first responder, service member or someone in your community who serves faithfully.

I will be sending my card in to Operation Write Home as an AnyHero card to thank someone who serves in our military.
